Setting up Instant Site footer

A footer is the area that appears at the bottom of Instant Site’s pages. You can use it to include information such as a copyright notice or a disclaimer, along with links to your store’s legal pages and other resources.

By default, your Instant Site has a footer created for the site theme you chose. You can switch between different footer layouts and set up its content.

Choosing a footer layout for Instant Site

You can switch between footer layouts on Instant Site to set it up according to your business needs.

Any footer layout includes essential legal information:

• Copyright that is your site’s name by default.
• Your store’s legal pages, if you’ve added them.
• Cookie settings for site visitors, if you’ve enabled the cookie consent banner on your site.
• A language switcher if you have a multilingual website.
• The Report abuse link that allows visitors to file a complaint about your site’s content.

A more detailed footer layout lets you to also add a disclaimer, contact information and any helpful links you need (for example, links to categories from your catalog).

To choose a footer layout for Instant Site:

1. From your store admin, go to Website and click Edit Site.
2. In the Homepage Sections list on the left, click Footer.

3. Switch to the Design tab and choose a layout option. It can be a basic or a more detailed one.

   

4. (Optional) Adjust the footer color scheme and the fonts or colors for individual footer elements.

5. Switch to the Content tab to customize footer contents. Depending on the layout you chose, you can manage links used in the footer, adjust contact information, add a detailed disclaimer, etc.
   For text fields, click the Aa icon at the top right to access the rich text editor options.

   

6. Click Publish.

That’s it. You’ve set up the footer layout for your Instant Site.

Managing customizable links in the site footer

By default, a detailed footer layout on Instant Site can contain groups of customizable links:

• Automatically generated links to the product categories from your catalog. If your online store has more than 8 categories, the first 7 categories will be displayed, and the “View All” button will appear at the bottom.
• Any helpful links, such as external websites, customer accounts, or the search page in your online store.

Customizable links appear as columns in the site footer. You can add up to three link groups to the footer on Instant Site.

To manage customizable links in the site footer:

1. From your store admin, go to Website and click Edit Site.
2. In the Homepage Sections list on the left, click Footer.

3. On the Content tab, locate the Links section.

   

4. Click an existing link group title to edit it, or click Add link group to add one more link group to your site footer.

5. Add or edit link group title.

   

6. From the Links to display dropdown, select:
   • Product categories to add autogenerated links to your store’s categories.
   • Select manually to add other types of links.
7. (For the Select manually link group type) Click an existing link in the list to customize it, or click Add Link to add more links to this group.
8. Add or edit link title and set Action on click:
   • No action. A non-clickable item.
   • Go to store category. Going to a product category that you specify.
   • Go to site page. Opening a page on your site that you specify.
   • Go to store. Opening your online store.
   • Go to link. Opening a link to any website that you specify.
   • Compose email. After clicking the link, a default mail service on a visitor’s device will open, ready to send a message to an email you specify.
   • Scroll to site section. Scrolling to one of your site’s sections.
   • Call phone. After clicking the link, a visitor’s device will dial a number you specify.
9. (Optional) To delete the links you don’t need, click Delete menu item at the bottom.
10. Click Publish.

That’s it. You’ve added a group of links to the footer on your Instant Site.

Removing an item from the footer on Instant Site

You can delete an item from the Instant Site footer if you no longer need it.

To remove an item from the footer on Instant Site:

1. From your store admin, go to Website and click Edit Site.
2. In the Homepage Sections list on the left, click Footer.
3. On the Content tab, delete texts you no longer need or items from the Links section.
4. Click Publish.

That’s it. You’ve deleted an item from the footer on your Instant Site.
